So You Want To Be Married At St Andrews?
CHURCH HISTORY
St Andrew's Lismore is an outstanding heritage-listed brick building with numerous historic stained glass windows and intricately carved timber furniture dating from an era when cost was no barrier. The building and grounds provides a stunning venue for weddings, funerals and other community events. Other smaller historic Parish churches also suitable for weddings are located at Nimbin and Wyrallah.
GROUNDS
The church grounds, with gently sloping lush, manicured lawns and stunning Jacaranda trees in full bloom (in season) provide a beautiful, tranquil setting for memorable wedding photographs any time of the year.
BELLS
The historic bell tower contains a full peal of 8 bells, enthusiastically rung in the traditional method by a team of experienced ringers at weekly Sunday worship services and at weddings and other special events by arrangement. Additional fee applies for weddings (see FEES below).
ORGAN
The historic pipe organ is a superb and rare example of its type, and normally played by one of the finest organists in the Northern Rivers region. The organist is included in the wedding fee, if required. A new Yamaha Clavinova with full 88 weighted keyboard is also available.
PREPARATION
Marriage is regarded as a sacrament within the Anglican Church, so we make every effort to give couples the best possible start to their union by commencing wedding ceremony planning and preparation well before your big day (usually 12 months). This enables our friendly clergy celebrants to get to know you well, making your ceremony an informal, meaningful and memorable experience.
CATERING
Catering services are available with the use of our spacious Parish Hall (seating around 100) adjacent to St Andrew's church, fitted with a large modern kitchen, equipment and amenities. Prices are modest according to requirements by negotiation.
FACILITIES
Toilet facilities located in the adjacent Parish Hall have been substantially upgraded in January 2009, and now include disabled facilities. A ramp located on the church north door provides easy access to the church for the frail and disabled.
PARKING
Ample street parking is available within easy walking distance. Wedding cars can easily access the church grounds via concrete driveway from Zadoc St right to the front door.
SOUND & AUDIOVISUAL
Our sound system has recently been upgraded to accommodate modern worship band lineups, with 16-channel desk, equalisers, digital delay, data projector, large foldaway projection screen, DVD/CD/mp3/tape player, laptop PC (using Microsoft XP and Powerpoint etc.), with portable hand-held, lapel and face wireless microphones. A hearing loop operates under part of the polished teak floor to enhance performance of certain types of hearing aids.
FEES
Wedding fee $600 (at 1st Jan 2010). Bells add $120. Weddings may be booked through our Parish Office 02 6621 3200. Deposit $100 payable when booking - balance payable prior to wedding date.
