HYMNFEST St Andrew's Church Lismore 29th Aug 2010
More than 280 people gathered in historic St Andrew's Anglican Church Lismore on Sunday 29th August to enjoy quality classical and contemporary choirs under the direction of Warren Whitney and Cathy Ridd.
Patrons were treated to a wide repertoire of choral items and congregational singing.
Featuring in today's Hymnfest were choristers from several different Northern Rivers choirs including St Andrew's Church Choir, St Andrew's Joyful Noise Choir, Lismore SDA Choir, Alstonville Chorale, Spiritsong of Bangalow, St Carthage's Cathedral Choir and other keen singers.
Supporting the choirs were quality intrumentalists such as trumpeter Mr Malcolm Bateman, pianists Mrs Penny Orchard and Mrs Cathy Ridd, and organist Mr Warren Whitney. Special solo items were presented by tenor Mr Fred Hoskins and Mrs Sandy Cochrane.
Hymnfest is a biennial event hosted by the Lismore Anglican Parish as a fundraiser for the Bible Society of NSW.
Guest speaker was Mr Daniel Barecca from the Bible Society of NSW.
Over $1300 was raised just through the offertory during the afternoon. More is expected through other donations and new subscriptions.
Lismore is one of seven Hymnfests held throughout NSW to support the work of the Bible Society.
Refreshments were served after the event providing an opportunity for patrons to meet with artists.
